“Beat” [beet] noun: A main accent or rhythmic unit in music or poetry
“Lumpia” [loom-pee-uh] noun: Filipino spring rolls
Beats and Lumpia began in 2010 with an idea, vision and passion. It is a celebration of Filipinos in Hip Hop culture which takes place during National Filipino American History month. This is the only event of its kind in Sacramento, CA and we take pride in highlighting our talented brothers and sisters.
In the past we have showcased local talent which includes emcees/rappers, deejays, dancers, singers, producers and visual artists. This year we are excited to have Bay Area and Los Angeles talent to grace the stage, as well as Beats & Lumpia veterans.
For round 3, we are proud to host “The Rent Money Tour” with Bambu, Filipino American MC and activist from Los Angeles, CA.
The event is appropriately named “Beats & Lumpia” because not only do we showcase amazing talent, but we serve amazing food! Filipino Cuisine is for sale at the event and all attendees receive lumpia tickets upon admission.
With a strong emphasis on community and culture, this event is open to people of all ages, cultures and ethnicities. It is a time to celebrate and come together as a community!
It will be held at the Sol Collective located at 2574 21stStreet, Sacramento CA 95818. The event doors open promptly at 6:00PM and will event at midnight. This is an all-age event with the admission price of $8 presale and $10 at the door, with special family and group discounts.
